Job Description

Job Classification: Contract System design engineering and implementation to support the requirements of all facility based services of Integra Telecom. Maintenance of Central Office records including, floor plans and front equipment drawings to provide space planning within the Office. Implementation of engineering initiatives identified in the capital plan involving design, build-out and installation of telecommunications equipment within both existing and new central offices, mini-hubs, and shelters. Position requires limited supervision, and works both independently and within a team environment. This is a complex position requiring attention to detail, application of specialized hardware and software knowledge, and moderately complex customer support skills. AS, AT or other technical degree, 2 year undergraduate for a technical degree or 6 years of demonstrated telecom related technician experience. BS or related degree preferred and 2 to 8 years of demonstrated telecom engineering related experience, or 6 to 12 years of demonstrated telecom engineering related experience. Graduate degree may substitute for three additional years of experience. Implement and maintain engineering standards and practices. Perform engineering functions to establish installation of various equipment for co-location facilities. Maintain current engineering records, update CAD records using VISIO for changes. Will be working with Field Techs to determine existing equipment and changes within co-location facilities. Preferred skills: Candidates with experience in central office installation/maintenance is extremely beneficial and knowledge of CAD or Visio required. Experience - Familiar with CLEC’s and their business and customer base - Understand Central Offices for both CLEC’s and ILEC’s - Must be familiar with Data and Carrier POPs - Familiar with Central Office Type Equipment Installations: Either through personal installations or project management of those installs (Really grasps the Nuts and Bolts of the installations) - Microsoft Office, Visio and AutoCAD experience is highly desired; must have ability to create new, maintain and modify existing company records, Floor Plans, Rack Drawings, Optical Rings. Technical Skills - Familiar with Data Networks and physical attributes of Aggregate and Core Routers; We are mainly based on Cisco based products - Familiar with Transport Networks; DWDM Rings, Optical Rings, OSP. We are heavily based on Fujitsu Networks and Ciena based products - Familiar with Telcodria Installation Standards and Practices - Familiar with AC and DC Power: ability to take readings and account for potential draw on newly installed equipment Personality - Must be a Team player - Must have a Positive attitude - Must present himself professionally; will interact directly with Upper Management and Customers, will be representing Corporate Engineering. - Self Motivated, and ability to work with little to no supervision Functional - Must support work related transportation; will support the following areas.
